Mahendra Engineering was established in the year 1994 for the purpose of servicing the tea industry of Sri Lanka. The company did manufacture high quality Tea Dryers, Axial Flow Fans, Conveyors, Withering Troughs all done to improved existing designs at the time and was tested and certified by the Tea Research Institute of the Sri Lanka Tea Board for use in the Manufacture of Black Tea.

Mahendra Engineering was the first to introduce a Color Sorting Machine for the rice mills locally From Anzai Manufacturing Company, Japan which is a very high tech sophisticated machine.
